The Magpie Consort is a group of 16 – 20 singers based in Columbus, Ohio. We perform a wide variety of repertoire, collected in magpie fashion from many parts of the world and from different musical traditions: medieval chants, sacred and secular Renaissance gems, folk song and world music arrangements, and contemporary compositions. We enjoy collaborating with instrumentalists and others – and we also like to include our audiences in making music.

Our December program, An American Christmas, was a medley of folk, gospel, jazz, and classical songs of the season, from many parts of the USA, and from the 18th century to the present.

Coming in May 2026 is our spring program Sounds of America, including hymns, folk songs, poetry, piano music, and a wide range of American secular songs, past and present. This will be a collaboration with the Cbus Jammers, a group affiliated with the Columbus Folk Music Society.

Details of spring dates and venues will be posted on our concerts page shortly.

Our entire 2025 – 26 season is generously supported by the Greater Columbus Arts Council (GCAC).
