The Magpie Consort is a mixed-voice choral ensemble based in Columbus, Ohio. We perform a wide variety of repertoire drawn in magpie fashion from many corners of choral music, including medieval chants, sacred and secular Renaissance gems, folk song and world music arrangements, and contemporary compositions. We also enjoy collaborating with instrumentalists, poets, dancers, and others.
The Magpie Consort was founded in 1998. After pausing for three years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Magpies are excited to be back for the 2022-2023 season with two new full-length programs. As we rebuild, we are particularly keen to hear from experienced basses – but we welcome inquiries from anyone who would like to sing.
We’re delighted to report that our 2022 winter performances, in collaboration with the Ukrainian Cultural Association of Ohio, raised $3,500 for humanitarian aid to Ukraine. Many thanks to all who contributed.
