The Magpie Consort is a well-established, mixed choral ensemble based in Columbus Ohio, specializing in diverse repertoire, including medieval motets and plainsong; Renaissance madrigals and sacred polyphony; 18th century Psalmody; folk song and world music settings; and contemporary compositions from around the globe.
Founded in 1998, the Magpies have appeared in and around Columbus as well as in Zanesville, Findlay, Dayton and Lancaster. Under the artistic direction of Christopher Dent since 2016, the choir has enjoyed a creative revival and continues to be one of central Ohio’s premier vocal ensembles.
The Magpie Consort presents both holiday and spring concerts featuring diverse musical selections from around the world for the 2017-2018 season. This season’s holiday program, … and on Earth: Peace! was performed from December 6-10 at four Columbus venues. The 2018 Spring program, Play, is a collaborative performance with the Columbus Modern Dance Company, and is scheduled from May 2-6. For more information, visit our concerts page.
