The Magpie Consort is a mixed-voice choral ensemble based in Columbus, Ohio. We perform a wide variety of repertoire drawn in magpie fashion from many parts of the world and from different musical traditions: medieval chants, sacred and secular Renaissance gems, folk song and world music arrangements, and contemporary compositions. We also enjoy collaborating with instrumentalists, poets, dancers, and others.
The Magpie Consort was founded in 1998. After pausing for three years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Magpies resumed performances in the fall of 2022.
Coming soon, on Saturday October 21, you can hear us in a Concert for Ukraine bringing together singers and other musicians in a program of mostly Ukrainian music, raising funds for Frontline Medical Ukraine.
In December and January, we bring you three performances of our winter program Stars of Wonder, drawing inspiration and comfort from stars in a wide range of music and poetic imagery. See our Concerts page for further information.
To get reminders about all our performances, please join our email list for updates. We also welcome inquiries from anyone who would like to join the group and sing.
